There is not now, nor has there ever been, some abstracted social reality out there. At every moment, in ways influenced by culture, art, science, and technology, we construct a social reality that validates some truths and distorts others. This mental model defines what we think of as good for us— how we pursue our individual and collective self-interest. And it defines what we as a society think is possible.
Why It Matters
A design problem with a design solution
For generations, the dominant framework for understanding value has been narrow — making financial returns visible and measurable while rendering social value difficult to see, difficult to measure, and therefore easy to overlook. This is not a moral failure. It is a design problem.
The Impending Bloom Project is built on a single belief: when you change what people can see, you change what people pursue. Your contribution funds the programs, tools, and people working to make that belief a reality — across classrooms, communities, and boardrooms.
